Which route fits your request
Most removal requests on FFNick are not copyright claims at all — they are about a nickname in the public list. Both go to the same inbox, but they need different details.

Removing a user-submitted name
To remove a user-submitted name, email the exact text of the nickname and the page where it appears; FFNick hides it from every public list, then replies to confirm. You do not need to prove ownership or explain why for a name you submitted yourself.
Nicknames reach the public list in two ways: a visitor submits one through a “Submit your FF name” form, or a visitor taps Copy on a nickname, which registers it and counts the copy. Submitted names are reviewed before they appear, as described in our about us page, but a review cannot know that a string happens to be your real name. That is what this process is for.
- Paste the exact name into your email — copied, not retyped and not a screenshot. Decorative characters such as ꧁ ༒ ★ look alike but are different code points, and only the original text lets us find the right entry.
- Add the page URL where you saw it, for example the homepage list or the full nickname library.
- We hide it first. A hidden name disappears from every list on the site, including its copy and vote counts, while we look at the request.
- We reply by email, usually within 1–2 business days, to confirm the removal — or, for a third-party request about a generic word such as “King” or “Legend”, to explain why a common word stays.
Removal is permanent for that exact text. The same letters wrapped in different symbols are a different string, so if you see a variant later, send that one too.

Filing a DMCA notice
A DMCA notice is a formal copyright claim under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act. FFNick.com respects the intellectual property rights of others and responds to clear notices. Please provide our agent with:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed (or a representative list).
- Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing and information reasonably sufficient to let us locate it (e.g. the page URL).
- Your contact information — address, telephone number and email.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner.
Single words and short names are generally not protected by copyright. If your concern is a nickname that uses your brand or tag, the name-removal route above is faster and needs none of these formalities.
Counter-notification
If your content was removed and you believe this was a mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification with your signature, identification of the removed material and its previous location, a statement under penalty of perjury that the removal was a mistake, your contact information, and consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court. Upon receiving a valid counter-notification, we will forward it to the original complainant. If they do not file a lawsuit within ten (10) business days, we may restore the content.
Repeat infringers
We may remove content and restrict access for users who repeatedly infringe the copyrights of others or repeatedly submit names that break our moderation rules.
